    We reserve the right to ask attendees not adhering to these rules to leave the event premises.

Celebration Rules

  • Recommended Bus Routes:

    • Route 18 (Nicollet Ave):
      Nicollet & 66th > RTE 515 East

    • Route 515 (66th Street):
      Stop: 66th & Portland
      Stop: 66th & Park Ave

    • Route 924/D (MOA>Bkln Park):
      Stop: 66th & Portland
      Stop: 66th & Park Ave

    During the Fireworks some bus routes are closed. Use the following routes instead.

    • Route 515 (66th St):
      Stop: 66th & 12th (East of Park)
      Stop: 66th & Nicollet

    • Route 924/D (MOA>Bkln Park):
      Stop: 66th & Bloomington

  • Event locations on the website are linked to a google maps. We recommend utilizing Google Maps to find your ideal route by car.

    However, please note, on July 4th the following roads will be closed to support Richfield 4th of July activities.

    • 🎆Fireworks-related road closures:

      66th Street between Portland Avenue & Bloomington Avenue – 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

      Portland Avenue between Hwy. 62 & 66th Street –

      8:00 pm to 11:00 pm

      🥁Parade-related road closures:

      15th Avenue, between Diagonal Road and 75th Street – from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

      75th Street, between 12th Avenue and 15th Avenue – from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

      12th Street, between 75th Street and 66th Street – from 2:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

      66th Street, between Portland Avenue and Bloomington Avenue from 2:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

  • Richfield is a very walkable city and has boasts new sidewalks along Portland Ave and along 66th Street.

    Most side streets are wide and provide ample room for both cars and pedestrians.

    Tips to be safe:

    • Walk against traffic

    • Use sidewalks whenever possible

    • Wear comfy shoes

    • Wear light colors walking after dark

Getting Here

  • Street parking is available at all events, but we recommend walking or biking to events if possible.

    Your best bet is street parking on the side streets around Veterans Park.

    Accessible parking is available at Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel at the corner of Portland Ave. & 66th St.

  • Handicap parking for the street dance and fireworks is at Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel parking lot. Only on-street parking for the parade is available.

  • There is ample bike parking at the Richfield Pool.

Parking

  • A full list of food vendors will be available closer to the event.

  • No outside alcohol is allowed.

    A selection of alcoholic beverages can be enjoyed at the Beer Garden.

    Alcohol purchased at the Beer Garden must be consumed inside the fenced Beer Garden area. Per city rules, NO alcohol can leave the Beer Garden!

  • Yes. There will be a Beer Garden.

Food & Drink

  • Events are free and open to everyone. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

  • The Richfield 4th of July Beer Garden is cash only.

    An ATM will be available to use during the events located in the Richfield Ice Arena.

    Food Trucks will accept their standard payment type(s).

Cost

  • The 4th of July events are planned by an independent, volunteer committee and executed with the logistical cooperation of the City of Richfield staff and volunteers.

    The City of Richfield does not pick up the bill and does not use tax payer money to pay for Richfield 4th of July events.

    Events are 100% paid for by donations and sponsorships. Keep your favorite 4th events around by donating today!

Miscellaneous

Severe Weather Policy

The safety of our residents, volunteers, participants, vendors, and visitors is our top priority. If severe weather develops, the Richfield 4th of July Committee and the City of Richfield will closely monitor weather conditions throughout the day and make decisions based on current forecasts and real-time conditions.

Please keep the following information in mind if weather impacts our celebration: 

Rainy Weather
A rainy forecast does not automatically mean Fourth of July events will be canceled. Some events may continue in light or steady rain. However, if conditions become unsafe due to lightning, high winds, hail, or other severe weather, events may be delayed, temporarily suspended, or canceled. Each event will be evaluated based on current weather conditions and safety considerations.

Event Delays and Temporary Suspensions

If severe weather poses an immediate threat—including lightning, damaging winds, large hail, or other hazardous conditions—activities may be delayed, temporarily suspended, or paused until it is safe to resume.

Announcements will be made as quickly as possible, and we appreciate your patience as decisions are made with public safety in mind.

Emergency Storm Shelter Locations

If you need to take shelter during the festivities, the following buildings will be available:

During events at Veterans Park:

  • Richfield Ice Arena

During the Parade:

  • Centennial Elementary School

  • Richfield STEM School

If you are attending an event and severe weather approaches, please follow directions from event staff, volunteers, police officers, and emergency personnel.

Event Cancellations

If weather conditions make it unsafe to continue an event, the decision to cancel will be made with safety as the highest priority.

Please note that canceled events will not be rescheduled. While we understand this is disappointing, moving events to another day is not feasible due to the extensive planning and coordination required, including:

  • Scheduled street closures and traffic control plans.

  • Police, fire, EMS, and public works staffing.

  • Metro Transit bus route detours.

  • Vendor, performer, and parade participant availability.

  • Equipment rentals, permits, and volunteer scheduling.

Stay Informed

Weather conditions can change quickly. The most up-to-date information regarding delays, suspensions, or cancellations will be posted on the Richfield 4th of July Facebook page as soon as decisions are made.

We encourage everyone to check for updates before heading to an event and throughout the day if weather conditions become uncertain.
